From the Analytics sidebar menu, you have access to seven report views in the form of dashboards. Here is a breakdown of each report:
Overview Report
Customizable dashboard that holds the key site metrics in one place with 10 different module types available. The data can be refreshed manually.
How to Use the Overview:
One-dashboard view: Instead of hopping between “Pages,” “Referrers,” or “Geographic” reports, you can surface your top KPIs — like most read stories, referral sources, or where your audience is located — all in one overview.
Quick insight + context: Because you can refresh data manually, your dashboard can help you react to breaking news or sudden traffic shifts.
Tailored to your workflow: With 10 different module types, you can build a dashboard that’s relevant to your editorial goals.
Module | Use Case for Journalists |
Quick Stats | Show real-time or recent totals for page views, visitor sessions, or bounce rate for your most important story categories (e.g., breaking news, long reads, opinion). |
Top 10 List | Use a Top 10 module to list your top-performing articles over the last 30 days, sorted by views, average session duration, or visitor growth.
|
Line Chart | Plot a line chart of your site’s “Views” for the “News” section to track how readership evolves during a major event or after a big scoop.
|
Pie Chart | Visualize traffic sources (referrers) — for example, how much of your traffic came via social media vs search vs direct — to guide distribution strategy. |
World Map | Map where your international audience is coming from. Useful if you report on global issues, or want to decide whether to expand coverage/correspondents in certain regions. |
Recent Views | Track the 40 most recent page views, including which device and country visitors are using — great for real-time monitoring of story traction. |
Recent Conversions | If you have donation forms, newsletter sign-up forms, or subscriber paywalls, use this to track the 40 most recent conversions (signups, donations, etc.). |
Busiest Time of Day / Week | Determine when your site is most active. For example, you might learn that traffic peaks late in the afternoon on weekdays — useful for scheduling stories or publishing times. |
New vs. Returning Sessions | See how many of your readers are new vs returning. If a lot of people are returning, that suggests strong audience loyalty. |
Real-time Report
The Real-time menu item shows you how many readers are present on your site, what pages they are viewing, and where they came from. The Real-time analytics dashboard updates every ten seconds and will only refresh while you are currently viewing it.
How to Use the Real-Time:
When someone lands on your publication site, they will show as an Active Visitor for the next five minutes. Please note that each Visitor will be counted for five minute intervals. If the same visitor moves to another article, they will be counted as an Active Visitor again for the next five minutes.
