2021+ F-150 Heated Steering Wheel Upgrade

If you have a 2021+ Ford F-150 and purchased the heated steering wheel upgrade and the OBD Genie programmer did not work on your truck, then it is very possible it is the factory installed Sync 4 APIM (with a 12-inch display) had never been updated over-the-air by Ford, therefore the code that was programmed into it wouldn't be visible. This may be a rare occurrence for 2021 model years equipped with 12-inch screens only.

There isn't a way to "force" OTA updates, so the customer is advised to go to a local Ford dealer to have them update any needed ECU modules in the vehicle including the APIM. Alternatively, any local shop / mechanic who has a subscription to Ford's FDRS would be able to perform all the updates as well.

If we were to update the Sync 4 APIM here for the customer, then there is a good chance the vehicle would never receive OTA updates again. The modules all need to be updated in conjunction together from the dealer.
