Background/Overview

During the upload process, Ingenious uses OCR to automatically organize your specifications by division and section. By following these upload tips, Ingenious will better be able to recognize the beginning and end of sections, to give you an accurate, organized specification book.

To improve accuracy, follow these tips:

  • The specification book should be a vector PDF file or a TXT file. (If you can highlight text in your PDF file, you are viewing a vector PDF)

    • Correct: A PDF created from a text editing software such as Word or Google Sheets

    • Incorrect: A PDF created from a scanned document

  • The format should be consistent throughout the document. It is recommended to follow MasterFormat CSI, which is commonly used in the USA and Canada.

  • The beginning of sections are clearly defined as:

    “SECTION XXXXXX - SECTION NAME

    PART 1 - GENERAL”

End of sections are clearly defined as:

    “END OF SECTION XXXXXX”

Page dimensions are 8.5” x 11” in vertical orientation
