How to create and apply a Milestone List to a Project Schedule

Welcome to our help article to help you master and administer your Project's key milestones.

List & Templates - Milestone Lists

Milestone Lists can only be created and edited by users with admin-level permissions. All other users will have view-only access.

Create a Milestone List

  1. From List and Templates, navigate to the Milestones tile and click "View Milestone Lists"

  2. From the Milestone List list view, click on "Create New List"

  3. Enter the name and description of your Milestone List

  4. Below, press the "+ Add Milestone" button to begin adding individual Milestones to your list

  5. Once you have entered the name of the milestone, press enter, or the green checkmark on the right side of the row

  6. Once you have completed entering milestones, press the save button in the top right corner

Editing a Milestone List

Once a Milestone List has been created, users with admin-level permissions will have the ability to edit the Milestone List.

  1. From the Milestone List list view, click on one of the existing Milestone Lists

  2. To rename a Milestone, press the Rename icon on the right side of the row

  3. To delete a Milestone, press the Delete icon on the right side of the row

  4. Milestones can be reordered by utilizing the icon to the left of the milestone name to drag and drop the milestone in the desired order

    1. The order of the Milestones in the Milestone List is the order the Milestones will populate on the Project Schedule when applied

  5. Once changes have been made, press the save button in the top right corner to save your changes

NOTE: Editing a Milestone List will have no effect on Milestone Lists that have already been applied to a Project Schedule.

Applying a Milestone List to the Schedule

Milestone Lists can be applied to schedules with existing or no activities while in edit mode ONLY.

  1. To apply a Milestone List, enter edit mode and press the three-dot icon located in the top right corner

  2. Press the "Import Milestone List" button

  3. Select the Milestone List you would like to apply to the schedule and press "Confirm Template"

  4. The milestones from the list will now populate in the Project Schedule on today's date

Administering your Projects Milestones

Once Milestones have been added to your schedule, you can do several things to stay on top of your Milestones.

  1. By turning on the "Show only Milestones" toggle located above the Gantt chart, your schedule will filter to show Milestones only

    1. Export from this view to create a milestone-only export

  2. Using the "Manage Columns" button, you can select the columns you would like to see and drag and drop them to organize how they will be displayed on your Gantt

  3. From the schedule list view, mark the schedule as the "Main Project Schedule" and view all milestones from the schedule within the Milestones widget on the Project Dashboard
