How create Custom Assistants in the App

Updated over a week ago

What are Custom Assistants and Why Create Them?

Custom assistants are versions of AI configured to automatically perform specific tasks. Instead of repeating instructions every time you use the AI, you create an assistant with fixed guidelines. This way, whenever you start a conversation with it, you'll already have responses aligned with what you need.

They are ideal for those who perform repetitive tasks or require consistent answers. For example, you can have one assistant solely for reviewing texts, another for responding to emails with a formal tone, or one focused on creating creative social media posts.

Creating a New Assistant

On the gallery screen, tap the three dots in the upper right corner and select "New Assistant." This will open the configuration screen.

Start by choosing an image or icon to represent the assistant. You can use an image from your gallery or one of the app's colorful options. This helps to quickly identify each assistant.

Configuring Knowledge Sources

You can add documents as a knowledge base for the assistant. This is useful when it needs to respond based on specific information, such as manuals, internal policies, or reports.

Simply upload the desired files, and the assistant will begin to use them as a reference when answering your questions.

Defining Custom Instructions

This is the most important part. Here you define what the assistant should do and how it should behave.

Be clear and specific. For example:

"Translate all submitted text into Spanish. Respond only with the translation, without additional explanations."

Think of the instructions as a brief for a collaborator. The more detailed, the better the result. Include the desired tone, the type of response, what to avoid, and what to prioritize.

Choosing the AI Model

You can select which AI model the assistant will use. The default is usually GPT-4O, but other options are available.

Each model has its characteristics. Some are more creative, others more technical or faster. If in doubt, start with the default model and test others as needed.

Defining the Response Tone

The tone directly influences the style of the responses. You can choose between:

  • Basic: Balanced and direct, ideal for most tasks.

  • Formal: More serious and structured, great for reports, professional emails, and analyses.

  • Creative: More original and unconventional responses, perfect for content creation, storytelling, and innovative ideas.

Choose the tone that best matches the assistant's objective.

Testing Your Assistant

After configuring everything, save the assistant. It will appear in the gallery, ready for use.

Tap on it to start a conversation and send a test message. For example, if it's a translator, send a phrase in Portuguese and see if it responds correctly in Spanish.

If something doesn't turn out as expected, go back to the settings and adjust the instructions. Small changes can greatly improve performance.
