Quick 5-Step Process to Launching your Store

Five steps to launch your dropshipping store with Spocket: register, connect your store, choose products, price them and launch.

Written by Arsalan Ali

Follow these five steps to launch your business with Spocket.

Step 1: Registration

You can create your Spocket account in two ways:

Option #1: Install the Spocket app or plugin

Install the Spocket app or plugin on your store, and it will automatically create a Spocket account for you once installed.

Option #2: Sign up on the Spocket website and connect your store

You can sign up for free directly on our website using your Google or Facebook account.

Step 3: Selection

What do you want to sell?

When doing product research, ask yourself these key questions to make sure you're choosing the right product:

  1. Is there demand for the product?
Will people want to buy it?

  2. Is it easy to market or advertise?
Can you effectively promote it to your target audience?

  3. Will it be profitable?
Does the potential margin make it worth your investment?

If you have already decided on a niche and have a few product ideas in mind, we recommend using Google Trends to find which one has the most interest.

Here's an example:

Google Trends chart comparing search interest over time for matcha, essential oils and coconut oil

At the top, you can see 3 products we had in mind:

  • Coconut oil

  • Essential oils

  • Matcha

The lines show how search interest in these items has changed over time and how popular they are compared with each other. Make sure the product you pick is on an upward trend rather than a downward one. In this case, all of these items are trending upward, which is a good sign.

If you are still undecided, we recommend checking out premium and best-selling products on Spocket using the advanced filters on the Search page. This will show you highly discounted and top-performing products in our catalog.

Step 4: Review

Determine your cost, markup and profit margin

Want to make sure you're pricing your products for profit? Spocket's Profit Margin Calculator takes the guesswork out of pricing, so you can easily work out your cost, markup, and the profit margin you'll earn.

Simply enter your desired sales price, and Spocket will instantly calculate your profit after factoring in the product cost and shipping fees.

You can also use Shopify's Profit Margin Calculator to find a profitable selling price for your product.

It calculates your estimated profit based on the cost of the item and your markup.

Step 5: Launch

Now it's time to make sure your store is ready to launch. We've designed a checklist to help you do just that.

There are a few options to adjust here. In the "Branded Invoicing" section, you can customize the invoices included in the order packages, and even add your logo. The "Global Pricing Rules" section lets you set up a markup before you publish products to your store.

✓ Payment settings

You'll need to decide how you want to accept customer payments in your store, whether through Shopify Payments, a third-party gateway, PayPal or similar. Configuring this is a must.

✓ Shipping settings

You'll need to create shipping rules or set standard shipping rates in your store to make sure you're not losing money on shipping.
