Setting up your Dymo Labelwriter printer

To print patient labels, you require a Dymo Labelwriter 450 or 550 label printer

Updated over a week ago

Before you can print patient labels using a Dymo Labelwriter printer with the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR), you must download the Dymo software. The CHR is compatible with only Dymo 450 and Dymo 550.

Install the appropriate printer software for your computer's operating system and then re-boot your computer. Ensure that the software installation is complete; otherwise the DYMO service will not work properly and CHR will not print labels.

Connect the printer to your computer and proceed to print a label. For more information, see Printing patient labels.

💡 Tips:

  • The best label size to use is the Dymo 30252 (1 1/8" x 3 1/2"). While you may be able to use other sizes, this one works best with the CHR.

  • The Dymo 550 model must use authentic Dymo Labels or it will not print.

  • If the front power button is constantly blinking it means, the label is put in backwards or that you are not using authentic Dymo Labels.

  • You must name your Dymo 450 printer as DYMO LabelWriter 450 and the Dymo 550 as DYMO LabelWriter 550; otherwise the Dymo Web service can't send the print job to the printer.

⚠️ Important: The dymo printer name is case-sensitive.

⚠️ Important: After naming the printer and before printing any labels, you must restart your computer.

Dymo 450

You must download the Dymo software version 8.7.4 for Mac or Windows 10 by clicking one of the following links.

⚠️ Important: The CHR does not support the Dymo Connect app for Dymo 450. Labels do not print properly with this app and appear with random characters.
