Configuring outgoing referral statuses
Updated over a week ago

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: This feature must be enabled by the TELUS Health support account. Contact the TELUS Health support team for more information. See Contact us.

You can configure outgoing referral statuses to suit the needs of your clinic. You can filter the Referrals dashboard (list) by status. See Finding and accessing referrals from the referrals dashboard (list) for more details.

You can customise your different waitlists with their own referral statuses, see Creating waitlists for your clinic. When viewing a referral and when filtering a waitlist by status, you only see the applicable statuses for that waitlist. The default referral statuses you select in the Default statuses tab are used for referrals without a waitlist, or if no custom statuses are configured for that waitlist.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: Some statuses are preloaded by default to your CHR domain, such as Draft, Ready, Letter Sent, Received, and Needs follow up.

โš ๏ธ Important: Do not delete outgoing referral statuses unless there are no patients in your referrals list with the specific status.

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Settings > Referral > Default statuses. The list of referral statuses appears.

  2. To edit an existing status, click the status and adjust the icon, colour, name and/or the required action(s).

  3. To add a new status click +Add Status.
    A New Status window appears.

  4. Select an Icon and Colour.

  5. In the Name field, type the status name.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: You are able to create more then one status with the same name.

  6. Select the required action(s) to update the referral status.

Action

Description

Archive this record

Removes the referral from the referrals list once the referral process is complete.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: The referral will still be visible in the patient's chart, under Referrals.

Make Referral Billing Item (BC Only)

Automatically creates a no charge billing item (Code 3333) with the relevant ordering and service providers attached.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: This action is relevant to family practices in British Columbia using our integrated billing service when they refer to specialists.

6. Click Save.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: If your clinic uses one status most of the time when creating a referral, you can select it as the default status. This way, CHR users do not have to select the status every time they create a referral.

To set a referral status as default, click Default next to it.
