Submitting claims to the Ministry of Health (MOH) from your MDBilling portal (Ontario)
Updated over a week ago

Submitted bills in the CHR are available in MDBilling.ca portal under Saved Claims. You must submit these claims to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

📌 Note: Once a claim is submitted to the MOH, you cannot make any changes to it in the CHR or MDBilling, until you receive a claim error report from the MOH.

If it has not been submitted to the MOH yet, you can change the claim in MDBilling. However, those changes will not be reflected in the CHR. We recommend you create a new bill in the CHR if you forgot to add a billing item or made any other mistake and submit it to MDBilling as per usual.

⚠️ Important: Ensure that all your claims are submitted to the MOH at least once a month. We recommend weekly at a minimum but larger offices may choose to submit them daily.

Steps

1. Login to your MDBilling portal.
The main MDBilling.ca page appears.

2. From the Dashboard, click Saved, or click Saved Claims from the list on the left.

💡 Tip: If you have access to your clinic group claims, you can filter the saved claims by selecting either your MOH group number(s), all claims, and no group number next to MOH Group.

3. In the Saved Claims page, select the checkbox at the top to select all the claims at once.

4. Click Submit All Claims.

5. If you want to select individual claims, select one or more checkboxes and click Submit Selected Claims.

📌 Note: In the CHR, once you submit a claim, you see an information icon at the top-right corner of every billing item showing transaction details of the claim sent to MDBilling and claim returned from MDBilling or the Ministry of Health (MOH). This is useful when you want to see the history of changes made to a bill, for example the bill was submitted, it came back refused, changes were made to the bill and resubmitted, and then you got paid.
