Improvements

Adding forms to encounter templates

Often during certain appointment types or with certain presenting issues, you routinely use the same forms. For example, during a visit with a diabetic patient, you use specific lab requisitions or, during an STD clinic visit, you use multiple Public Health forms.

You can now link form templates to an encounter template. This saves you time and clicks during common clinical encounters. See Creating encounter templates and Using an encounter template.

Time zones now appear on the online booking site (eBooking)

When patients request an appointment using your online booking site, they can now see the time zone of the selected clinic location when they choose the appointment time. This is very helpful for clinics that have locations across Canada with different time zones.

Once a patient has requested an appointment, the patient sees the time zone next to all the requested or confirmed appointment times in your clinic’s eBooking site. See Requesting appointment using your clinic’s online booking site (for patients).

📌 Note: You must configure the time zone for each location so that the correct time zone appears in your clinic’s online booking site. If this is not configured, the default time zone is your clinic’s account time zone. See Creating and modifying clinic locations.

Searching for names with special characters

It’s now easier to search for patients with a special character in their name. When searching for a patient by name, if the name contains a special character (such as an accent), you no longer need to type the special character to find the patient. For example, if searching for René Garçon, typing “Rene Garcon” now finds the patient.

Conversely, if you type a name with a special character, the CHR now also finds matching patient names without that special character (e.g. typing “René Garçon” finds Rene Garcon). For more information, see Searching for patients.
*Note: This feature will only be active after May 27, 2022.

Performance enhancement

We improved the time it takes for Qnaire responses to populate the patient chart.

British Columbia - Accessing BC CareConnect from the CHR

CareConnect is British Columbia's read-only Electronic Health Record (EHR). CareConnect provides access to a patient's encounters, provincial and community lab results, diagnostic imaging reports and more, across all health authorities. For more information and to sign up, see the Provincial Health Services Authority CareConnect website.

You can access CareConnect from within the CHR by clicking the BC CareConnect button in the patient's chart. For more information, see Accessing CareConnect from the CHR.

📌 Note: Before using CareConnect you must enable it for your system (see Requirements to access CareConnect from the CHR).

Fixes

  • Previously, the Start Virtual Visit button appeared permanently on the eBooking confirmation and appointment details page for patients, but did not work until the time of the visit. To improve patient experience, the button now appears 5 minutes before the appointment for the patient to click, or when you create a virtual visits card in Pathways.

  • When you email a faxed or scanned file to a patient, it is sent in the correct PDF format and can be opened and viewed on a computer.

  • Inbox sorting by Sender sorts items alphabetically. This applies to all message types.

  • For Chromebook users, when adding a document from the Inbox and searching for a patient, the patient search window is no longer hidden behind the window that shows the PDF preview of the document.

  • When you open CHR documents, files, and dialogues, the window size is now set at a workable minimum and maximum size threshold to avoid issues where the window is too small or too big to work with.

  • When you record head circumference in the Vitals section of a patient's chart and start a growth chart, the head circumference is now populated in the growth chart.

  • Users without merge permissions are now unable to merge patient charts.

  • The name of the provider who signs the prescription now appears in the prescription header instead of the name of the user who created the prescription.

  • For clinics with RBAC enabled, users whose roles are deleted now lose their permissions associated to that role.

  • When performing a simple export, the .csv file is exported again.
