Customizing Pathways for your clinic
Updated over a week ago

When TELUS Health first enables Pathways for your clinic, we set up a default configuration. You can further customize your Pathways to better meet the needs of your clinic. For more information about physical pathways, see Physical pathways.

Pathways configuration is an advanced permission; reach out to your system admin if you do not have access to all the tabs under Pathway Setting. Contact the TELUS Health support team through the support chat if you need assistance customizing your Pathways (see Contact us).

Pathway cards can be customized to auto archive, for more information refer to Auto-archiving pathway cards.

⚠️ Important: We suggest not editing Phases and Transitions while you have open pathway cards in that phase. The pathway card could get stuck in pathways.

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Settings > Pathways.

  2. To edit an existing pathway, at the top of the window, select it from the list.

  3. To add a new pathway, click the gear icon and then click Add Pathway. Enter a name and click Submit. Close the Manage Pathways window. Your new pathway appears in the list at the top of the window.

  4. To delete a pathway, click the gear icon and then click the x next to the pathway you would like to delete. Click Submit. Close the Manage Pathways window.

  5. You can configure the following elements of your pathways:

    • Phases: The stages of appointments and/or programs in pathways, for example, Pre Visit, Visit and Post Visit. On the pathway board, these are the columns.

    • Transitions: The order in which pathway cards move through the phases, for example, Cancel Visit, To Post Visit and To Visit.

    • Tags: Highlight important characteristics related to your patient and the specific pathway card.

    • Staff Actions: Keep track of and assign staff tasks to the pathway card.

    • Patient Actions: Keep track of and assign patient tasks to the pathway card. The patient can complete the tasks from the virtual visit.

    • Patient Contents: Create a text-based document you can show to a patient from within the virtual visit.

    • Auto assign workflow phase: Configure appointment types to automatically transition to pathways and into a specific phase.
