What is Interhubz?

Interhubz is an integration platform that connects Intercom and HubSpot, automatically syncing customer conversations, contacts, companies, and tickets between both platforms. This eliminates data silos and ensures your support and sales teams have complete customer context in both systems.

What platforms does Interhubz support?

Interhubz currently supports:

  • Intercom as the source platform for conversations and contacts

  • HubSpot as the destination CRM for contacts, companies, tickets, and notes

Do I need technical knowledge to set up Interhubz?

No. Interhubz uses OAuth 2.0 authentication, which means you can connect both platforms with just a few clicks—no API keys or technical configuration required.


Setup & Authentication

How do I connect my Intercom and HubSpot accounts?

  1. Log into your Interhubz account

  2. Navigate to Connections and click New Connection

  3. Click Connect Intercom and authorize access

  4. Click Connect HubSpot and authorize access

  5. Give your connection a name for easy identification

  6. Your connection is now active!

Can I have multiple connections?

Yes! You can create multiple Intercom ↔ HubSpot connection pairs. The number of connections available depends on your subscription plan:

  • Starter: 1 connection

  • Pro: 3 connections

  • Enterprise: Unlimited connections

Each connection has its own independent configuration.

What permissions does Interhubz need?

Intercom:

  • Read conversations and contacts

  • Access admin/user information

  • Receive webhook notifications

HubSpot:

  • Read and write contacts, companies, and tickets

  • Access timeline/notes

  • Read user/owner information

  • Read properties and pipelines

All permissions are requested during the OAuth authorization flow.

What happens if my authentication expires?

If your OAuth token expires or is revoked, you'll see a notification in your Interhubz dashboard. Simply click the Re-authenticate button and go through the OAuth flow again. Your existing configuration and data will be preserved—no reconfiguration needed.

Can multiple team members access the same Interhubz account?

Not yet.


Configuration

Where do I configure my integration?

After creating a connection, you can access configuration via:

  • Connections → [Your Connection Name]

From there, you'll see sections for:

  • Conversations: Capture triggers, destination routing, content settings

  • Matching: Contact and company matching strategies

  • Tickets: Ticket policies and stage mapping

Do I need to configure everything at once?

No. Interhubz works with sensible defaults out of the box. You can start syncing conversations immediately and fine-tune settings later as needed.

Can I test the integration before going live?

Yes. We recommend:

  1. Start with a single test conversation in Intercom

  2. Use the API Push feature to manually trigger capture

  3. Verify the data appears correctly in HubSpot

  4. Adjust configuration as needed

  5. Enable automatic capture once satisfied


Troubleshooting

Why aren't my conversations syncing?

Check these common issues:

  1. Authentication: Ensure both Intercom and HubSpot are properly authenticated

  2. Noise Guards: Your conversation may be filtered out by noise guard settings (e.g., minimum messages, minimum duration)

  3. Capture Trigger: Verify your capture mode is set correctly (e.g., "On Close" requires closing the conversation)

  4. Grace Window: For "On Close" mode, there's a default 10-minute grace period before capture

I connected the wrong Intercom/HubSpot account. Can I change it?

Yes. You can disconnect and re-authenticate with the correct account. Go to your connection settings and use the re-authentication option. Note that existing configurations will remain, but the connection will now point to the new account.

Can I disconnect Intercom or HubSpot temporarily?

Yes, but syncing will stop while disconnected. To pause syncing without disconnecting, set your capture mode to "Manual Push Only" in the Conversations settings.

How do I delete a connection?

Navigate to Connections → [Your Connection] and click the Delete Connection button. This will remove the connection and stop all syncing. Historical data already synced to HubSpot will remain unless manually deleted.


Data & Privacy

What data does Interhubz store?

Interhubz stores:

  • Connection configuration and settings

  • User mappings between Intercom admins and HubSpot owners

  • Ticket linkage records (which conversations are linked to which tickets)

  • Conversation capture metadata

We do not store the actual conversation content—it flows directly from Intercom to HubSpot.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Interhubz uses:

  • OAuth 2.0 for secure authentication

  • Encrypted credential storage

  • HTTPS for all API communications

  • Account-level data isolation

Can I export my configuration?

Currently, configuration export is not available. However, all your settings are preserved and visible in the Interhubz dashboard.
