Legacy vs. New Greeting Experience: What You Need to Know

Expand this section if your Rise.ai gift card product was set up before April 12, 2026.

Rise.ai’s new greeting experience was released in April 2026 and is designed to replace the legacy greeting card with a smarter, more engaging, AI‑enhanced solution.

If your store was already using the Rise.ai gift card product before this release, we strongly recommend setting up the new greeting experience and planning your migration as soon as you’re ready.

Note: The legacy greeting experience is expected to be sunsetted later this year, so moving to the new experience will be required at a certain point.

During the transition period, stores that already had the Rise.ai gift card product set up before April 12, 2026 will see both options in the Rise.ai dashboard:

Stores that did not have the gift card product set up before this date will only see the new greeting experience. For them, the legacy option will not be available, and all greeting setup and customization will take place in the new experience.

How to Select Your Gift Card Greeting Template (Including AI Options)

To select the template of your greeting experience, go to your Rise.ai dashboard and click: Assets → On Site → you will land on the Gift Card Assets page.

Select Greeting Card and then click Customize:

After clicking Customize, you’ll be redirected to the new greeting experience editor.

At the top of this page, you’ll see a section where you can describe the type of greeting template you want to create with AI. Rise.ai will use this description, along with your existing branding, to help generate a relevant design.

Below this, you’ll see 12 greeting templates arranged in three rows of four:

The first four templates (top row) are AI‑generated based on your store’s existing theme and colors, giving you on‑brand options right away.
The other eight templates are pre‑made by Rise.ai, offering ready‑to‑use designs you can select.

One of the templates will be marked with a “Default” tag. This is the greeting template that will be used automatically if you don’t actively select a different one.

Note: Each template includes a dynamic animation, which you can fully experience and review in Preview mode. For example:

Once you’ve chosen the template you prefer, you can either click Preview or Customize:

Preview opens a modal showing how the greeting will look to Customers, and lets you either save it as is or choose to customize it further.
Customize opens a modal where you can fine‑tune your greeting card’s appearance and content to better match your brand and set the right expectations for Customers.

How to Customize Your Gift Card Greeting Appearance

If you click Customize, a window will open where you can manage different visual aspects of the greeting experience (the greeting card). Within this window, you’ll also find a Preview option, so you can see your changes in real time.

1. Theme:
You can select one of the pre‑made color sets or design a custom theme. Start by choosing a theme for the Preview, then click Edit if you want to customize it. When you’re done, click Continue.

Primary color – The main accent color used across the greeting experience.
Secondary color – A supporting color that complements your primary color.
Page background – The background color of the greeting page.
Title font – The font style used for titles and headings.
Body font – The font style used for body text and descriptions.

2. Assets:
In this section, you can customize the following elements of your greeting card:

Add a logo – Upload your brand’s logo, which will appear at the top of the greeting card.
Add a cover image – Add an image that will appear on the greeting card cover.
Change the “Go to site” button text – Edit the text that appears on the “Go to site” button.
Choose which additional elements to display:
1. Display “Add to wallet” button – Allow Customers to add the gift card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
2. Display QR code – Show a QR code that contains the gift card code and can be scanned.
Display custom text – Add free text to the footer of the claim page, where you can include extra information or even terms and conditions (T&Cs).

3. Animation:
In this section, you can choose one of five new, vibrant animations for your greeting card to give it a more dynamic, engaging feel. Use Preview to see exactly how the selected animation will look for your Customers. Then click Save.

The available animation styles are:

Scratch card – Reveals the gift card details as Customers “scratch” the surface, similar to a physical scratch-off card.
Tear strip – Unveils the gift by virtually “tearing” a strip, mimicking the experience of opening packaging.
Flip card – Shows the surprise by flipping the card over, like turning a physical card to reveal what’s inside.
Ribbon – Presents the gift card behind a virtual ribbon or bow that “unwraps” to reveal the details.
Book – Opens like a small booklet or card, with pages that turn to reveal the greeting and gift card information.

Once you click Save, the new greeting experience will be sent to all new gift card recipients. All of your customizations will be visible on the Greeting Card page in your Rise dashboard.

Important to know: During the gift card purchase process, within the gifting module, buyers can select one of the images you make available to them.
This image will be displayed on the gift card Claim Page.
