How to Create a Buy One Get One (BOGO) Incentive for Gift Cards (Shopify Merchants Only)

What is the BOGO flow?

A BOGO flow rewards customers with store credit for purchasing a gift card in your store. The reward will be issued as store credit, which will be added to the customer's Rise.ai wallet.

With the dynamics of the Rise.ai workflows setup, you can issue 100% of the equivalent give card amount, or less. Accordingly, if someone buys a $50 gift card for their friend, you could set the reward to be either another $50, or just X percentage out of it.


The advantages of BOGO incentives for gift cards

With this a gift card BOGO flow your loyal customers will be encouraged to purchase a gift card for their loved ones, possibly getting you new customers, or encouraging old customers to return to your store. It also has another benefit because the reward the buyer receives will likely get them returning to your store to purchase more.

It could also be activated just during specific time periods when gift cards are more popular, like Mother's Day, Christmas, and other holidays.


How to set up a gift cards BOGO workflow

The BOGO workflow is set up in the Workflows section within your Rise.ai dashboard, and it is based on a product collection you need to set up within Shopify.

Technically, once an order is made, the workflow will calculate the total value of all products related to that specific collection, and then issue a reward based on that value. Thus, the process requires you to create a collection within Shopify and then set up the workflow in Rise.

  1. Create a new collection within your Shopify admin, and add to it only the Rise.ai gift card product:


  2. Once you've saved the collection, click it again and when its page is open, copy the collection ID from page URL (right after .../collections/):


  3. In the Rise.ai dashboard enter Workflows -> Create Workflow -> Create New:


  4. When building the workflow - select Shopify's 'Order Paid' trigger to start with.
    Then, click Action and select 'Calculate a collection total' in the left menu:


  5. Paste the relevant ID into the Collection ID field on your left (it's the ID from instruction #2 above):


  6. Continue to select another action -> Issue Store Credit.
    You will then be able to select either a percentage / relative amount of the Collection Amount, which was calculated by the workflow in the action before.


    Note:

    • The actual percentage you select depends on how much you want to reward, out of the gift card/s value.

    • If needed, you can add other conditions before.

  7. Once all of the above is set up, define any other requested setting of the workflow action (expiration date, notification, note, etc). Then Apply.

  8. Don't forget to activate the workflow by clicking Activate on the top right corner.
