The LinkedIn Insight Tag allows you to track and analyze the performance of your campaigns on LinkedIn. By adding the Insight Tag to your funnel, you can gain valuable insights into your audience and their behavior.
Getting Your LinkedIn Insight Tag and Conversion ID
You'll need to add both the LinkedIn Insight Tag and Submission Completed Conversion ID to your funnel in order to be able to track conversions.
Start by logging in to the LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
Insight Tag ID:
Go to Data -> Sources.
Click "Insight Tag".
Pick the "I will install the tag myself" option.
You'll find your Insight Tag ID inside the code, like so (highlighted in red):
Submission Completed Conversion ID:
While inside the Insight Tag menu, click "Create conversion".
Pick the option "Manual conversions setup".
Select the "Event-specifc" option.
Your Conversion ID will be shown like so (highlighted in red):
Adding the Insight Tag ID and Conversion ID to Your Funnel
Follow the above steps to get both IDs. Then start by copying the Insight Tag ID first.
Next, open the "Configure" page of your involve.me funnel:
Paste the Insight Tag ID in its respective field, this will make the "Submission Completed Conversion ID" field show up. Copy the Conversion ID from the LinkedIn Campaign Manager as explained above, then paste it into its own field as well.
Make sure to click "Update Settings" before leaving the page.
ℹ️ The submission completed event (Submission Completed Conversion ID) is the only event that is offered.
Test the Insight Tag ID and Conversion ID
Once you're done adding both IDs to your funnel, create a test submission. It can take a couple of minutes to an hour, but once the data has been received, both the Insight Tag ID and Conversion ID will show the "Active" status.
If you click on the conversion's status, you'll also be able to see when the last conversion activity was detected.
