Add a variable

Prerequisite: This feature is reserved for users with an administrator role.

Go to the Data Source page.

Click the button used to display the list of variables for an equipment :

You are then redirected to the equipment's variables page.

To add a variable, click on the "Add a variable" button.

You are directed to the "Add variable" screen :

Complete the fields below, then click "Add".

The specific fields shown in the form will change based on the data type you select.

You must provide the following information :

  • Tag Name: (Mandatory) Enter the unique identifier for your variable.

  • Description: (Optional) Provide a brief explanation of this tag's purpose.

  • Data Type: Choose the appropriate data type. Options include: Bitword, Word, Bool, DINT, or INT.

  • Coefficient and Offset: Use these fields if you need to apply scaling to your data (for further details, please consult the article on variable scaling). To keep scaling inactive, leave the default values (Offset: 0, Coefficient: 1)

  • Variable Address: Enter the memory address for your variable. Depending on the chosen data type, you may also need to specify a bit number.

  • Function Type: Select the relevant function type (e.g., 1-Coil Status, 2-Input Status, 3-Holding Registers, 4-Input Registers).

  • Clientbox Address : if there is a ClientBox configuration
