Using iPacket Value in the Appraisal Process to Find a Retail Number

Empowering precise retail pricing through OEM-sourced data and live appraisal analysis using the iPacket portal.

Takeaways

  • iPacket provides OEM-sourced, accurate, and competitive market data.

  • The tool calculates a market price based on a competitive set within a 500-mile radius (editable).

  • Certified pre-owned and pre-owned vehicles are analyzed together for a full market picture.

  • The MSRP and percentage of MSRP are used as key indicators to determine the right retail number.

  • Precision in pricing builds confidence and supports better decision-making.

How to Pull an iPacket Value During a Live Appraisal

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Set Up Your Screen
Open the appraisal tool and the iPacket portal side-by-side for easy VIN and data entry.

  2. Copy the VIN
From your appraisal tool, copy the VIN of the vehicle you're evaluating.

  3. Go to iPacket & Pull Sticker
    In the iPacket portal:

    • Click "Sticker Pull" highlighted in RED

    • Paste the VIN

    • Enter the exact mileage

  4. Generate Market Value
Click “Pull Sticker and Calculate Market Value.”

This pulls the vehicle’s OEM sticker and calculates the iPacket Market Price, based on real-time data from a competitive set.

What Happens Next

  • iPacket builds a competitive set of similar vehicles based upon the OEM MSRP:

    • Certified pre-owned and pre-owned

    • Within a default 500-mile radius (can be adjusted)

  • For each comparable, you'll see:

    • Vehicle location

    • Certification status

    • Odometer

    • MSRP

    • Current list price

    • % of MSRP

  • iPacket suggests a market retail price based on how others are pricing similar vehicles.

Best Practices

  • Always enter exact mileage for accuracy.

  • Adjust the search radius if your market demands it.

  • Look at both the absolute retail price and the % of MSRP to determine competitiveness.

  • Use the iPacket value as a retail benchmark—not a hard rule, but a data-backed recommendation.

Example Breakdown

Let’s say your vehicle’s MSRP is $57,105.

iPacket might suggest pricing it at 71%, equating to a $40,545 retail price.

Here’s how it compares to others in the competitive set:

  • Vehicle A: MSRP $58,455 → Priced at 72% = $41,994

  • Vehicle B: MSRP $60,850 → Priced at 70% = $42,595

  • Vehicle C: MSRP $51,950 → Priced at 70% = $36,365

This gives you a data-driven range for your own pricing decision. As you can see the % of MSRP listed in Green - does not care what the MSRP is listed in yellow. High or low MSRP there is a consistency in the % that we can rely on!
