What are Insurance Premiums?
Insurance premiums include the amounts you paid for private health, accident, life, and pension insurance. This deduction can also include interest on savings capital (e.g., interest from savings accounts shown in your list of securities).
If you received premium subsidies (Prämienverbilligungen), these must be deducted from your premiums.
Your health insurance statement usually already shows the amount you can transfer to your tax return.
Insurance premiums are only deductible up to a legal maximum, but you don’t need to worry about it: iqtax calculates the limit automatically.
Example
In 2025, you pay CHF 4'200 for your health insurance premiums.
Document
Your health insurer typically sends the health insurance statement in January of the following year, either by post, email, or via the customer portal.
How to add it in iqtax
Go to Deductions - Insurance Premiums and click “add new”. Enter your paid premiums for health insurance and (if applicable) accident, life, and pension insurance. Indicate whether you received premium subsidies, and upload the premium certificate ideally.
