What are contributions to political parties?
Here you can claim deductions for contributions or donations to political parties.
This applies only to parties that are officially recognized, for example because they are listed in the party register, are represented in a cantonal parliament, or received at least 3% of the vote in the last cantonal elections.
The deduction is limited. For state tax in the Canton of Zurich, you can deduct a maximum of CHF 10'300 per person. For federal tax, you can deduct a maximum of CHF 10'600 per person.
Example
You are a member of a political party and pay an annual membership fee, or you donate money to a political party. You can enter these contributions here if you have proof of them.
Document
The appropriate document is usually a contribution confirmation or donation receipt from the political party. If you do not have a confirmation, you can also upload a payment receipt or bank statement.
How to enter it in iqtax
Go to Other Deductions > Other Deductions and click “Add New.” Select “Contributions to Political Parties” and enter the details. Then upload the document as proof.
