Using video in your courses is a great way to enrich your content and keep learners engaged. Videos can be particularly useful for instructional and practical content. They can also add a personal touch to your course, enabling you to record your own video and speak directly to your audience.

In this article we'll look at the three main parts of embedding a video:

The video itself (and the three options for video - upload, record, embed)
The transcript
The poster image

The video itself

Once in Editing mode on your page click the + button and select Video.

You can choose to Add video (record or upload) or embed. We'll look at each option below.

Option 1: Upload a file

Select Record or upload then Select or drop file.
Find your video file on your computer.
Once it's uploaded, hit Done.

Option 2: Record a video

Select Record or upload then Record video
You'll be asked for permission to enable your webcam, select Allow.
When you're ready, Start recording and click to stop.
If you are happy with your video you can Accept, Review or you can choose to Re-record.
Once it's uploaded, hit Save.

Tip: If you want to download your video (for example to make edits) select the three vertical dots and Download.

Option 3: Embed a video

Select the radio button to embed.
Paste your URL link from YouTube, Vimeo or ClickView.
Select Save to add the video into your page.

Note: If you are adding a video into your activity question or feedback, the process differs slightly. We're working on making recording video available here in the future too but in the meantime this is the current process. Inside the activity container, there is a Video heading. Clicking this will bring up a dialogue box. Paste the video embed code, or a Youtube or Vimeo URL link, to add a video to your activity.

Transcript

It is a great idea to add a transcript of your videos. This gives learners a text alternative and will also appear when they are offline.

You can add a transcript to both videos you upload or record, or video links you embed from Youtube, Vimeo or ClickView. This can be done from the Transcript tab of the video settings box shown below.
