Setting up Custom Email Notifications

Emails generated within JACK App will come from your own email

Updated this week

⚠️ To complete this setup, you will require access to your website DNS record (speak to your IT Department/Web Designer)

In this article, you will find how to:

Setting up the DNS record

  1. Navigate to Settings > Domain Settings

  2. Enter your domain i.e. jackapp.io or drakes.com.au or bp.com and click save

  3. The DNS details will appear as per the below image:

  4. You can copy the DNS record yourself and follow the setup instructions at the bottom of the screen in JACK. Alternatively, copy the Name & Value for each of the records and send it to your IT Department, Managed Service Provider or Website Host to have records added

  5. After the DNS records have been updated, wait at least a few hours before returning to JACK App > settings and clicking Verify DNS

  6. Once successful the bar will changed to Domain Verified

Setting up the global email address

This is the default email address that will appear in emails or notifications received by contacts, suppliers, contractors, and users

⚠️ You must have a verified DNS for this option to be available

1. Navigate to Settings > Email Settings

2. Enter the default sending email you would like emails generated from JACK App to appear to come from, this generally should be a generic email, not a user-specific email such as info@, admin@, hello@ etc.

3. Enter the default reply-to email, this should be a generic mailbox that is frequently monitored by more than one user who can then forward/assign these emails as required. In most cases, this is the same as the sending email.

4. Click Save Changes, and Send Test Email to check setup is successful

Setting up individual email addresses

This is the email address that will appear in emails or notifications sent by a specific user. If this is not set up for a user, the global email will be used by default.

This setting allows your staff to send emails from theirname@company.com and have a reply-to their email. Any email sent by a staff member logged into JACK App with this setting setup, will have their email appear as the sender.

⚠️ You must have a verified DNS for this option to be available

  1. Navigate to Contacts > Staff > Click on the employee to open

  2. Click on Email Settings

  3. Fill in the email settings with the user-specific information. You can also choose whether customers responses go directly to the user inbox, or whether the reply is sent to a generic inbox

  4. Click Save Changes and run a Test Email to validate the setup
