Too-high alkalinity can also result in green water, for a different reason: It can reduce the effects of the chlorine you use to keep algae under control. And while low alkalinity causes erratic pH, high alkalinity typically causes stubbornly high pH levels that are very difficult to lower. A high-pH environment can result in high calcium levels, making the water cloudy or causing “scale,” a hard, crusty mineral build-up.

Test Strips
Jacuzzi® pH / Alkalinity Down
Measuring cup with ounces
Instructions:
Submerge the test strip six inches below the water line
Check your Alkalinity water results
The Alkalinity desired range is between 80 and 120 ppm
Turn on air blower or filter system
To lower your Alkalinity, utilize Jacuzzi pH / Alkalinity Down, one ounce per 400 gallons of water, Do not add more than 1 ounce at a time
Allow the water to circulate for 30 minutes
Retest and repeat the previous steps if needed
