Description
The enrollment profile plays a crucial role in allowing Jamf Now to connect with and send commands to devices. The device downloads the enrollment profile during the enrollment process. In some cases the download is automatic, and in other cases the Jamf Now administrator or the user downloads the profile to install it.
Organization-owned devices whose serial numbers appear in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager can automatically enroll in Jamf Now using Automated Device Enrollment.
Devices that don’t qualify for Automated Device Enrollment and user-owned devices can use Open Enrollment.
After enrollment is complete, Jamf Now is managing the device. During initial configuration, including any subsequent Blueprint changes and app assignments, the device receives instructions from Jamf Now and acts on them accordingly. The device continues to receive updates from Jamf Now server provided:
the inventory record is in Jamf Now
the enrollment/MDM profile is still on the device
the APNs certificate is still valid
Finding the Enrollment/MDM Profile on Jamf Now Managed Devices
On macOS
macOS 12 or earlier: System Preferences > Profiles
macOS 13 and 14: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Profiles
macOS 15: System Settings > Device Management
On iOS/iPadOS
No Enrollment Profile
If the device does not have an Enrollment/MDM profile installed, it will need to go through the Jamf Now enrollment process again; see Enrollment in the Jamf Now Documentation for more information.
