Here's a reference guide to the key terms you'll come across in Jigcar. If you see a word in the platform or in another help article that you're not sure about, check here. đ
Allocated A movement status meaning a driver or transport provider has been assigned to the job, but hasn't started the journey yet.
AutoPlan TMS Jigcar's built-in Transport Management System, used by planners to build loads, plan routes, and manage driver schedules.
Business area A custom category your organisation can set up to tag movements by type - for example, Retail, Fleet, Auction Purchase, Disposal or Rectification.
Collected A movement status meaning the driver has picked up the vehicle and it's now in transit.
Delivered A movement status meaning the vehicle has arrived at its destination. Proof of delivery (photos, signatures) may be available.
Driver An individual who moves vehicles. In Jigcar, drivers use the mobile driver app to accept jobs, navigate to locations, and confirm pickups and deliveries.
Driver app The Jigcar mobile app used by drivers. Available on iOS and Android. Drivers use it to view jobs, navigate, capture proof of delivery, and log expenses.
In Progress A movement status meaning the vehicle is currently being moved from the origin to the destination.
Intelligence / Jigcar Intelligence Jigcar's AI-powered features, including route optimisation, smart email parsing, and performance insights.
Job / Leg A specific task assigned to a driver or transport provider to fulfil a movement. One movement typically creates one job, but complex logistics (e.g. multi-leg journeys) may involve multiple jobs.
Load A group of vehicles assigned to a single transporter for one trip. Used primarily in TMS load planning for multi-car transporters.
moDel An integration partner used by some dealership group fleet departments and transport providers, for new car delivery sign-off and invoicing. When connected to Jigcar, moDel data flows automatically back, updating POCs and PODs and the movement status.
Movement The core concept in Jigcar. A movement is a request to move a vehicle from one location to another. Every movement has a status (Requested, Allocated, In Progress, Delivered, etc.) and can be tracked through the platform.
Movex An integration partner and logistics marketplace for vehicle movements. Dealers using Movex can send and manage jobs to their pool of transport providers.
Multi-car transporter (MCT) A truck that carries multiple vehicles at once (typically 5-11 cars). MCT movements are planned through the TMS with load building and route optimisation.
Optimisation Jigcar's AI-powered route planning feature. The optimiser considers distance, time, vehicle dimensions, transporter capacity, and cost to suggest the most efficient routes.
POD (Proof of Delivery) Evidence that a vehicle was delivered. Typically includes photos of the vehicle at drop-off and a signature from the person receiving it, captured through the driver app.
POC (Proof of Collection) Evidence that a vehicle was picked up. Similar to POD - photos and signatures captured at the point of collection.
Rejected A movement status meaning the assigned driver or transport provider declined the job. The movement may need to be re-requested or reassigned.
Requested A movement status meaning the movement has been submitted but not yet allocated to a driver or provider.
Route The planned journey a driver or transporter takes, covering one or more pickups and drop-offs. Routes can be manually planned or AI-optimised.
Saved filter A personalised view you can set up in the All Vehicles tab. Apply your preferred filters (site, status, date, etc.) and save them so they persist every time you log in.
SCT (Single-car transporter) A vehicle designed to carry one car at a time (e.g. a flatbed truck). Used for individual vehicle movements, particularly for high-value or non-drivable vehicles.
Site A registered dealership location in Jigcar. Sites have addresses, geofences, and assigned users. Your organisation may have one site or many across the group.
Stock feed An automated data connection that feeds your vehicle stock information into Jigcar from your DMS (Dealer Management System) or other inventory source.
TMS (Transport Management System) The planning module within Jigcar, known as AutoPlan TMS. Used by planners to build loads, assign drivers, optimise routes, and manage transport operations.
Trade plate A temporary licence plate used by trade plate drivers to legally drive unregistered or trade vehicles on public roads.
Trade plate driver A driver who uses trade plates to move individual vehicles by driving them from pickup to drop-off. As opposed to a transporter who carries vehicles on a truck.
Transport provider A logistics company that moves vehicles on your behalf. Transport providers may use their own drivers and transporters. They're managed within Jigcar and can be assigned to movements directly or through the marketplace.
Transporter A vehicle (truck) used to carry cars. Can be a single-car transporter (SCT) or multi-car transporter (MCT).
