How to track a vehicle in transit

Finding out where your vehicle is right now

"Where is my car?" The answer depends on your role and how your organisation manages movements.

If you requested the movement

Head to the Movements page and search for the vehicle by registration or VIN. The Status column tells you where things are at.

Click on any movement to open the details flyout, where you can see the full history - when the movement was requested, who accepted it, collection and delivery timestamps, and any notes.

💡 Tip: If you need a more specific update (e.g. an ETA), contact your transport provider or planning team directly. Jigcar shows you the status of the movement, but does not currently offer live GPS tracking of vehicles, although we’re working on it!

For a full breakdown of every status, see Understanding movement statuses.

If you're a planner using the TMS

You get a more detailed view. Open the TMS and navigate to the relevant plan date. On the Gantt chart, you can see each driver's route and the status of every stop (known as a leg) on that route:

Leg status

What it means

Empty

The driver is on an empty leg - travelling to a pickup location without a vehicle.

Collected

The driver has collected the vehicle and is heading to the drop-off.

Complete

The vehicle has been delivered to the destination.

Not started

The driver hasn't begun this leg yet.

Failed

The driver couldn't complete this leg (e.g. vehicle wasn't ready).

These statuses update in real time as drivers progress through their route on the driver app. You can see at a glance which stops are done, which are in progress, and where things may have gone wrong.

If a leg has failed, you can unplan it and choose to re-attempt the delivery on a different route or abort the movement entirely, which notifies the original requester.

What if I need an exact location?

Jigcar tracks the status of a vehicle movement - not its live GPS location. If a vehicle is in transit and you need to know exactly where it is or get an ETA, the best approach is to contact the driver or transport provider directly.
