What's New in Jigcar - January, February & March 2026

It's been a busy start to the year. The team has been heads down building new planning tools, improving the driver experience, and making day-to-day operations smoother for everyone. Here's what's new:

šŸš€ For Planners & TMS Users

Route Optimisation for Trade Plates (New)

Jigcar's optimisation engine is now live in the TMS for trade plate planning. Instead of manually building routes from scratch, planners can run the optimiser to auto-generate first-draft plans - then refine from there.

You can also choose exactly which jobs and routes to include in each optimisation run, so existing plans stay untouched while new jobs get slotted in around them.

Why it matters: What used to take hours of manual route-building can now be done in minutes. Early usage is showing significant time savings in daily planning!

Multi-Day Route Planning (New)

Routes that span more than one day are now fully supported in the TMS:

  • Create routes that carry over across consecutive days, with full trip continuity

  • Add breaks directly into routes - overnight stops, mandatory rest periods, or waiting time for delivery windows

  • View loading and unloading durations at each stop, so timings are accurate across the whole journey

Why it matters: No more splitting multi-day trips into separate daily plans. Planners can now see and manage an entire journey as one route.

MCT & SCT Optimisation (New)

The optimisation engine now supports single and multi-car transporters. Jigcar automatically looks up vehicle dimensions (width, height, weight) by VIN or VRM and uses that data for realistic load planning. The vehicle specification layer is live and will continue to improve as more data flows through.

In addition to this, the AI optimiser uses HGV-specific road data that accounts for:

  • Low bridges

  • Weight restrictions

  • Width restrictions

  • Truck-prohibited roads

Deliver on Specific Date (New)

When creating a movement request, you can now mark a job as "deliver on this specific date" rather than "deliver by" a latest date. This is useful for scheduled handovers or any job where the exact day matters.

Driver Accept/Reject for Routes (New)

Drivers can now accept or reject routes sent to them from the TMS. If a driver rejects, they provide a reason, and the route status updates in the planner view so you can reassign quickly. This is an org-level setting - turn it on if your operation benefits from driver confirmation before dispatch.

Planner Notes (New)

Planners can now add and edit their own notes directly from the jobs list and TMS views. Planner notes are kept separate from driver and job notes, so nothing gets overwritten or mixed up.

Edit Plan & Send to Driver (New)

Planners can now edit a route plan and push the updated version directly to the driver - without needing to rebuild the job. Changes made in the planner sync to the driver app instantly, keeping drivers up to date without any back-and-forth.

Transport Mode: Switching to Taxi (New)

When a driver needs a taxi return leg rather than public transport, this can now be changed on an individual movement basis directly in Jigcar.

If taxis are your default across the board, we can also reconfigure this at account level so taxi is set as the default for all movements - just let us know and we'll sort it.

Better Transport Provider Booking

We've improved how planners send jobs to transport providers:

  • Transport providers now see both the original requestor and the planner's contact details in emails and the fly-out - no more confusion about who to call

Distance & Cost Per Mile (New)

The movements table now shows distance and cost per mile for every completed job. This gives transport managers a clear view of cost efficiency across their operation - useful for benchmarking transport provider rates or monitoring driver costs.

Weekly Planning View

Planners can now switch to a weekly view in the TMS - giving a higher-level overview of all movements across the week, broken down by driver/route. Previously, the planner only showed a daily view, so you had to navigate day by day to get the full picture.

The weekly view also shows multi-day routes in full, so you can see a driver's plan spanning multiple days in one glance.

šŸ“± For Drivers

Breaks in the Driver App (New)

Drivers can now see scheduled breaks - rest stops, overnights, waiting time - directly in their daily view. No surprises, better visibility of the day ahead.

More Reliable Photo Uploads

POC/POD photo uploads now automatically retry if they fail, so no more lost images when signal drops on site.

šŸ”— Integrations & Platform

moDel Integration (New)

Jigcar now integrates with moDel. When creating a movement request, entering the moDel PIN and vehicle registration will auto-populate the job details - saving time and reducing manual data entry. This works for dealers sending to transport providers and logistics organisations using moDel-connected drivers.

This feature is available via feature flag - reach out to enable it for your profile.

CSV Import for Transport Providers (New)

Transport providers can now bulk import jobs into their profiles via CSV upload. For centralised setups, the transport provider field is optional - making it faster to get large batches of jobs into the system without manual entry.

Site Contacts (New)

You can now add a primary contact name, phone number, and email to each site - handy for drivers and transport providers who need to coordinate on arrival.

Fleet & Assets Tab (New)

A new section in Infrastructure for managing fleet assets like MCT trucks.

šŸ“ˆ What's Coming

We're actively working on:

  • Driver Expenses - track and manage driver expense submissions and approvals directly within the platform. Check out the visual below!

  • Driver Timesheets - capture and review driver hours and shift data without leaving Jigcar

  • ETA Tracking & Notifications - live tracking pages so customers and sites can see where their vehicle is. Take a look at the picture below to see what's in the works...

  • Carpooling - enabling drivers to share lifts on empty legs instead of taking taxis

  • Transport Provider Profile Enhancements - exports, rate cards, and more granular cost tracking

  • Analytics Redesign - AI-powered insights and personalised dashboards
