Building a load

Grouping vehicles together for a transporter trip

Written by Bianca Monteiro

A load is a group of vehicles assigned to a transporter for one trip. Building loads is how you make efficient use of multi-car transporters - instead of sending one vehicle at a time, you group pickups and drop-offs together.

Step 1: In the TMS, go to the unplanned movements list and identify the jobs you want to group together.

💡 Tip: Use filters to narrow the list by site, region, date, or status. Look for jobs with similar pickup and drop-off locations to create efficient loads.

Step 2: If you’re freshly approaching this, click on ‘Create plan’ on the top right. If you’re building into a current plan, click, ‘Add Route’ instead.

Step 3: From here you can follow the flow to build and assign the load to a transporter and driver. Jigcar will show you the transporter's capacity and warn you if the load exceeds it.

Step 5: You can reorder stops manually or use the optimiser to suggest the most efficient route.

Step 6: Confirm and send the load. The assigned driver will see the route in their driver app.

Vehicle specifications and capacity

Jigcar automatically looks up vehicle dimensions (width, height, weight) by VIN or VRM, so load capacity calculations are based on actual vehicle data rather than estimates. This is particularly important for MCT (multi-car transporter) loads where fitting vehicles onto the truck efficiently matters.
