Managing trade plate drivers

Assigning jobs and managing schedules for trade plate drivers

Written by Bianca Monteiro

Trade plate drivers move individual vehicles by driving them from pickup to drop-off using temporary trade plates and this can all be managed within the TMS.

After planning and sending a route to a driver, they will receive a text message directing them to accept or decline the route within their driver app (if your organisation has driver accept/reject enabled).

Viewing driver schedules

The planning view in the TMS shows each driver's schedule across the day (or multiple days). You can see:

  • Which jobs are assigned to each driver

  • Estimated timing for each pickup and drop-off

  • Gaps in the schedule where more jobs could be added

  • Breaks and rest periods

Multi-day routes for trade plate drivers

For longer-distance moves, trade plate drivers may need multi-day routes. The TMS supports this with:

  • Routes that carry over across consecutive days

  • Breaks (overnight stops, mandatory rest) built directly into the route

  • Full trip continuity visible in the Gantt chart
