The LNRS website can be accessed here.

The LNRS is Essex’s statutory plan for nature recovery under the Environment Act 2021. It identifies where habitat creation/enhancement will give the biggest benefit and provides documents + an interactive web map you can cite in planning/BNG/HMMP

Find out if there are Strategic Significance issues on your site

Open the Essex LNRS interactive web map and overlay your red-line boundary. If your site intersects mapped priority/opportunity layers (e.g., designated/high-value areas or locations highlighted for habitat creation/connection), treat it as strategically significant and show how your design/BNG helps deliver those mapped opportunities. Take a screenshot/export of the relevant layers for your evidence bundle.

Find out if there are habitats of importance

Use the Strategy documents (and the map context) to select actions that fit your site and local opportunities—typically: species-rich grassland creation, hedgerow and woodland connectivity, wetland/riparian works, and urban green-infrastructure where relevant. Reference the exact LNRS document sections/layers you’re following in your BNG and HMMP.
