While you’re on this page

You now need to indicate whether any trees on or near your site are protected by either:

  • A Tree Preservation Order (TPO), or

  • A Conservation Area designation.

Both are selected using the same option — simply click on the tree (or trees) that are protected.

What you should do

If any trees are protected by a TPO or lie within a Conservation Area, select them now.
Where this applies, it will usually constitute an impact under planning rules.

Providing supporting information

To confirm whether your site includes protected trees, you’ll need to check your Local Planning Authority (LPA) records. There is a link at the top of this page explaining how to find your LPA’s tree protection information.

Next steps and recommendation

Once you’ve checked, mark any protected trees accordingly.
If you do have protected trees, you should expect to provide further information or reports as part of your application.
