On this page, you will need to let us know if you plan to submit a Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan (HMMP).

You will need to submit an HMMP if either of the following is true:

  • You are creating a Biodiversity Gain Site to sell the units on the off-site market

  • You are making significant onsite gains and securing them for 30 years.

Significant enhancements are areas of habitat enhancement which contribute significantly to the proposed development’s BNG, relative to the biodiversity value before development. Retention of existing habitat does not count as an on-site enhancement. You can read more about what "Significant" is here. If you are not sure if it is significant, you should discuss the matter with your Local Planning Authority.

You can check out our guide here explaining what HMMPs are here.

Once you have worked out if you need to submit a HMMP, you will need to click one of the two options below;

  • Yes, I will include an HMMP when I submit my Biodiversity Gain Plan

  • No, I don't have or need an HMMP
