Commission Line Items Report

Overview

The Commission Line Items report provides a detailed, record-level view of commission activity for staff across all commissionable item types. It captures each transaction line that contributes to a staff member's earnings, including the item sold, the sale amount, applicable discounts and adjustments, the effective commission rate, and the commission amount earned.

Use this report to validate commission calculations before payroll is processed, investigate individual earnings across services, products, memberships, and packages, and resolve discrepancies or disputes with a full audit trail at the line item level. It's especially useful for payroll preparation, compensation structure verification, and exception handling when commission amounts don't match expectations.

Report Caveats

There are a few important caveats and limitations to be aware of when using this report. Use these details to better understand how the data behaves and how to interpret it correctly.

Caveats

Details and Impact

Commission tier thresholds are evaluated within the selected date range — changing the date range changes the tier

Tier-based commission rates are calculated based on cumulative commissionable sales within the date range applied to this report. If you change the date range, the tier threshold evaluation changes too — a staff member may appear to be in a higher or lower tier depending on how much of their sales is included in the filter. To accurately reflect payroll commission, the date range must match exactly the pay period used for payroll processing.

Staff amendments create paired positive and negative line items

When a service is reassigned from one staff member to another, the system creates two amendment lines: a negative entry removing the sale from the original staff member, and a positive entry adding it to the new staff member.

Refund clawbacks may deduct more commission than the staff member originally earned when Business Charges are involved

When a service is refunded, the commission clawback is calculated on the gross service amount — not on the commissionable amount after Business Charges were deducted. This means if a Business Charge reduced the original commissionable total, the clawback can exceed what the staff member was originally paid. This is confirmed expected behavior. When investigating a refund clawback that appears larger than expected, compare the Commissionable Total on the original Sale line against the Commissionable Total on the Refund line.

Is Commissionable = false means no commission is calculated for that line — the line still appears in the report

All order line items appear in this report regardless of whether they are commissionable. Lines where Is Commissionable = false will show $0 for Rate and Commission. These may include item types that are excluded from commission by the business's configuration, or line items where no staff member was assigned. Use the Is Commissionable filter to isolate lines that contribute to earnings.
