What Happens After I Set Up My SIPP?

Your next steps once your pension is active

Updated over 3 months ago

Congratulations - your Chest SIPP is now open and ready to go. Here's what you can do next and what to expect.

Your SIPP is active

Once setup is complete, your SIPP is live and you can start contributing straight away. Your pension page will show your current pot value (starting at Β£0) and your Chest Score.

Make your first contribution

You can add money to your pension in two ways:

One-off contribution Tap to make a contribution, enter an amount (minimum Β£1), and confirm. The payment is collected via Direct Debit from your connected bank account. Funds typically take 2-5 business days to be invested.

Saving rules Set up automatic saving rules to contribute without thinking about it. Options include round-ups, pound-ups, a monthly deposit, the no-spend challenge, and Chestflix and Chill. Saving rules run weekly and contributions are invested shortly after.

Boost your pension with cashback

Earn cashback on everyday spending and we'll contribute it directly to your pension. Browse 120+ brands in the app, buy a Chest Code, and use it to pay in-store or online. The cashback is paid by the brand - not taken from your money - and we then contribute that cashback into your SIPP.

Track your pension in the app

Your dashboard shows:

  • Your current value of your pot and projected future value

  • Pending contributions and their status

  • Your Chest Score and retirement projections

You can check in anytime to see how your pension is growing, and get further information on the Pension page in app.

Statements and documents

You'll receive quarterly statements summarising your contributions, investment activity, and pot value. All documents are available in My Account β†’ Documents.

Suggested next steps

Once you're up and running, consider:

  • Transferring existing pensions If you have pensions from previous jobs or other providers, you can combine them into Chest. Go to Combine Pensions on the Pension page and enter your old provider details. We'll handle the transfer for you.

  • Adding a beneficiary Nominate who should receive your pension if something happens to you. Go to My Account β†’ Manage Beneficiaries to add their details.

  • Reviewing your Chest Score Your score updates as you contribute and your circumstances change. Check back regularly to see your progress and how small changes could improve your retirement outlook.
