Phone Verification Code Not Received or Not Working

Troubleshooting issues with SMS verification codes

When you create your Chest account or log in, we send a verification code to your phone via text message. This confirms your identity and keeps your account secure. If you're not receiving the code or it's not working, here's how to fix it.

Code not received

If your verification code hasn't arrived, try the following:

  • Wait a moment - Codes can take up to 60 seconds to arrive, depending on your network. Give it a minute before trying again.

  • Check your phone number - Make sure you entered the correct number, including the right country code.

  • Check your signal - A weak mobile signal can delay or prevent SMS delivery. Try moving to an area with better reception or connecting to Wi-Fi if your phone supports Wi-Fi calling.

  • Check your messages folder - Some phones filter messages from short codes into a spam or blocked folder. Check any filtered or junk message folders.

  • Make sure your phone can receive SMS - Verification codes are sent via standard SMS, not through iMessage, WhatsApp, or other messaging apps. Ensure your phone is set up to receive text messages.

  • Request a new code - Tap "Resend code" in the app to receive a fresh code. Wait for the new one rather than using an older code.

Code not working

If you've received a code but it's not being accepted:

  • Check the code hasn't expired - Verification codes are only valid for a short time. If too much time has passed, request a new code and enter it promptly.

  • Use the most recent code - If you've requested multiple codes, only the most recent one will work. Check your messages for the latest code received.

  • Check for typos - Make sure you're entering the code exactly as shown. Don't include any spaces.

Still having issues?

If you've tried the above and still can't verify your phone number:

  • Restart your phone and try again

  • Check whether your mobile network blocks short-code SMS - some networks or phone settings filter these

  • Try sending a text message to someone to confirm SMS is working on your phone

  • Contact your mobile provider if you're not receiving any text messages
