Account Security and Protecting Your Account

Keeping your account safe from fraud and scams

Updated over 3 months ago

We take the security of your account seriously. Here's how we protect you and what you can do to keep your account safe.

Your 4-digit PIN

Your PIN is the main way you access your Chest account. Keep it secure:

  • Never share your PIN with anyone

  • Don't use obvious combinations like 1234 or your birth year

  • Don't write it down somewhere others could find it

  • Use a different PIN from your bank card or other accounts

Chest will never ask for your PIN via email, phone, or message. If anyone asks for it, don't share it.

What Chest will never ask you for

We will never contact you and ask for:

  • Your 4-digit PIN

  • Your bank login details

  • Your full password or security codes

  • Access to your device through screen sharing

If anyone claiming to be from Chest asks for these, it's a scam. Do not respond and contact us immediately.

Recognising phishing attempts

Fraudsters sometimes impersonate companies to steal your information. Watch out for:

  • Unexpected emails or texts asking you to click a link or provide personal details

  • Messages with urgent language pressuring you to act quickly

  • Emails from addresses that don't end in @joinchest.com

  • Requests to transfer your pension to a "safer" location

When in doubt, don't click any links. Open the Chest app directly or contact us at hello@joinchest.com to check if a message is genuine.

Lost or stolen phone

If your phone is lost or stolen:

  1. Contact us immediately at hello@joinchest.com so we can secure your account

  2. Use your phone provider's tools to remotely lock or wipe your device if possible

  3. Change your PIN when you regain access or set up on a new device

Your account is protected by your PIN, so others can't access it without this. If you have biometric login enabled, a thief would also need to bypass your device's security.

Suspicious activity

If you notice anything unusual on your account, such as transactions you don't recognise or changes you didn't make, contact us immediately at hello@joinchest.com. We'll investigate and secure your account.

Keeping your contact details current

Make sure your phone number and email address are up to date. We use these to send verification codes and important security alerts. You can update your details in My Account β†’ Your Account.
