Cancelling Your Chest Pension

Your options within the 30-day cancellation period and after

Updated over 3 months ago

If you've recently opened your SIPP and changed your mind, you may be able to cancel. Here's what you need to know.

30-day cancellation period

You have 30 days from when your SIPP was set up to cancel. During this period, you can request a full cancellation and have any contributions returned.

What happens if you cancel

If you cancel within 30 days:

  • Your contributions will be refunded to your bank account (minus any market movement)

  • Any tax relief added by HMRC will be returned to them

  • Your SIPP will be closed

How to cancel

To cancel your SIPP within the 30-day period, contact us at hello@joinchest.com. Let us know you'd like to cancel and we'll guide you through the process.

After 30 days

If more than 30 days have passed since you set up your SIPP, cancellation is no longer available. To close your SIPP, you'll need to transfer your pension to another provider. See our article on transferring your pension out of Chest.

Once your pension has been transferred out, you can contact us to close your Chest account.
