What is the AI Brief Generator?
When creating an assignment brief, you have the option to use the AI Brief Generator — a tool that writes your brief for you based on the context and brand information already stored in your Yoho account.
Instead of starting from a blank page, you select which pieces of information the AI should reference, add any specific direction you want, and click Generate. The AI produces a complete, on-brand draft that you can review and edit before saving.
How Does It Work?
The AI Brief Generator works in three layers:
1. Your Master Prompt (the foundation)
Every brand on Yoho has a master prompt — a set of brand-level instructions that tells the AI who you are, what your brand sounds like, and how you communicate. This is applied to every brief the AI generates, automatically.
To view or update your "brief writing" master prompt go to Account Settings → AI Prompts.
2. Your Assignment Context (the brief’s focus)
When you open the AI Brief Generator, you will see checkboxes for three categories of context: Customer Persona, Value Prop, and Event. These are profiles and details you have already set up in your Brand Kit or linked to the assignment. The AI uses whatever you select to tailor the brief specifically to that audience, message, and moment.
3. Your Additional Instructions (your final direction)
At the bottom of the generator, there is a free-text field where you can give the AI any extra guidance — a specific tone, things to avoid, a particular angle to take. This is optional, but it gives you direct control over the output when you need it.
Understanding the Three Context Categories
The AI Brief Generator does not require any a brief to have any of the below items. However, we always recommend creating briefs with a particular persona, angle, and/or event in mind.
Customer Persona
A customer persona is a profile of your target audience — who they are, what they care about, what motivates them to buy. Personas are created and managed in your Brand Kit.
When you select a persona, the AI uses that profile to write a brief that speaks directly to that audience. The tone, the language, the emphasis — all of it shifts to match who you are trying to reach.
Example: If your persona is a budget-conscious millennial mom, the AI will write differently than if it’s targeting a high-income professional in their 40s.
If no persona has been added to the assignment yet, you will see a prompt to add one before generating.
Value Prop
A value proposition is a short, clear statement of what makes your product or offer compelling to a specific audience — what problem it solves, what benefit it delivers, or why it stands out.
When you select a value prop, the AI centers the brief around that core message. Rather than producing a generic description of the product, it builds the brief around the angle most likely to resonate with your audience.
Example: “Affordable and stylish” as a value prop will produce a very different brief than “Skin-safe materials,” even for the same product.
If no value prop has been added to the assignment yet, you will see a prompt to add one before generating.
Event
An event in Yoho is a structured profile for a sale, campaign, product launch, or any time-bound moment. Each event includes:
• An overview of what the event is
• Key dates and timing
• Suggested words and phrases to use
• Messaging ideas and direction
When you link an event to an assignment and select it in the generator, the AI uses all of this information to write a brief that is aligned with your campaign’s timing, language, and goals.
Example: If you have a summer sale event set up with messaging ideas and go-live dates, the AI will incorporate that context so your contributors know exactly what they’re creating and why.
If no event has been linked to the assignment, you will see a prompt to link one before generating.
Why Does Linking Context Matter?
The more context you give the AI, the more accurate and useful the brief will be. Without it, the AI relies only on your master prompt, which means the output will be more generic and require more editing on your end.
Think of it this way:
• Master prompt alone = a brief that sounds like your brand, but nothing more
• Master prompt + persona = a brief written for a specific audience
• Master prompt + persona + value prop = a brief with a clear message for a specific audience
• Master prompt + persona + value prop + event = a complete, campaign-ready brief that your contributors can act on immediately
Taking a few minutes to set up and link your context before generating will save your contributors significant time and reduce the number of revision cycles on the back end.
Step-by-Step: How to Generate a Brief
1. Open your assignment and navigate to the Brief & Deliverables step.
2. Click the “AI Brief Generator” button in the top right of the Instructions/Brief section.
3. In the modal that appears, review the available context. Check or uncheck the Customer Persona, Value Prop, and Event items you want the AI to use.
4. (Optional) Add any additional instructions in the text field at the bottom. Keep it brief — five sentences or fewer works best.
5. Click “Generate Brief.” The AI will produce a draft in the Brief field.
6. Review the output, make any edits you need, and continue building your assignment.
Tips for Better Results
• Build before you generate: Set up your Brand Kit first
The AI Brief Generator is only as good as the information behind it. Make sure your personas, value props, and events are up to date in your Brand Kit before relying on them for brief generation.
• Add direction, not content: Be specific in Additional Instructions
Use the Additional Instructions field to steer the tone or focus, not to write the brief yourself. Prompts like “Keep it upbeat and conversational, avoid technical language” work much better than “Write about our sale.”
• Always read the output: Review before saving
The AI produces a strong starting point, but it is still a draft. Always read through the brief before saving to make sure it accurately reflects what you need from your contributors.
