What you'll need

To start with, please make sure your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account. Once that's set up, you’ll need to connect your Instagram account to Joli.

Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t yet support direct connections to apps like Joli. So Meta requires a Facebook User account to link your Instagram.

Additionally, you’ll need a Facebook Page connected to your Instagram. This is an important step because Meta uses the Facebook Page to link your Facebook User account to your Instagram account.

If you're still having trouble then please follow the troubleshooting guides below:

Troubleshooting guides

How to Switch the Facebook User for Joli

When Joli connects to Facebook, it uses the Facebook account currently logged into your device's default browser (not the Facebook app). To ensure Joli finds the correct Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts, please follow these steps:

  1. Open Your Default Browser: This is usually Safari on iOS devices.

  2. Log Out of Facebook: Make sure to log out of any existing Facebook account.

  3. Log In with the Desired Account: Enter the credentials for the Facebook account you want Joli to use.

  4. Reconnect Joli to Facebook: Now, connect Joli to Facebook again.

This will ensure Joli accesses the correct Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts.

How to check if your Instagram Account is a Business or Creator account and how to convert it

Meta requires you to be either a Business or Creator account in order to grant Joli access to Instagram. Here is how to check your account type:

1. Open the Instagram app on your mobile device and navigate to your profile.

2. Tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner.

3. Go to Settings and Privacy

4. Depending on your account type, you'll see one of the following options at the bottom of the list:

- Business tools and controls (if you have a business account)
- Account type and tools (if you have a personal profile)
- Creator tools and controls (if you have a creator account)

So then if you see "Account type and tools" then click that and then Switch to professional account and follow the instructions to switch to a Creator account.

How to check the connection between your Facebook Page and your Instagram Account

Once you've confirmed that your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account, ensure your Facebook Page is properly connected to Instagram within your Page settings. (If you use Meta Business Suite, please follow these steps instead)

To check the connection between Instagram and Facebook on your Page:

  1. Login to your Facebook User

  2. Find the Your Pages section under the menu

  3. Log into the Facebook Page linked to Instagram (sometimes this is a Switch Now buton)

  4. On the menu click Professional Dashboard

  5. Under Tools, Click See More and then click on Linked Accounts

  6. If your Instagram account is already connected then disconnect it

  7. Follow the on screen steps to connect your Instagram account to the Facebook page

If you use Meta Business Suite

How to check the Instagram connection within Meta Business Suite

Head to https://business.facebook.com/latest/home and check to see if there are any alerts about features being unavailable.

If you do not see an alert and your Instagram channel is correctly linked to your Facebook Page, please try reauthorising the connection between Facebook and Joli using the steps right below.

If you tried to connect an Instagram account to your business portfolio in Meta Business Suite but were unable to, please read the below guidelines from Meta (also available here)

  • You don't have full control of the business portfolio: Only people with full control of the portfolio can connect an Instagram account to a Page that's owned by a business portfolio. If you don't have full control, you may be prompted to send a request to confirm the Instagram account and Facebook Page connection. People with full control of the business portfolio will get an email as well as a notification on Facebook to confirm the Page-to-Instagram account connection in Page settings.

  • You may be trying to connect the Instagram account to your personal Facebook Page. To connect an Instagram account to a Page, there must be a business portfolio that can claim both of these assets. Learn more about business portfolios. Once you have a business portfolio, you can claim the Page by following these steps:

    1. Select the correct business portfolio from the drop-down menu in the sidebar.

    2. Go to Settings at the bottom of the left navigation bar.

    3. Click on Business assets.

    4. Click on Add assets.

    5. Click Facebook Page.

    6. Click Claim an existing Facebook Page.

    7. Enter the Facebook Page name or Page URL to find it. Remember, if the Page is already connected to an Instagram account, you'll have to claim them both together.

    8. Agree to the Terms and Conditions of claiming the asset(s) to your business portfolio.

    9. Click Claim Page or Claim Page and Instagram.

    10. If the Page isn't already connected to an Instagram account, you can then follow these steps to connect the Instagram account to the business portfolio in Meta Business Suite desktop, or follow the steps for Meta Business Suite mobile app.

  • There's a block on your business portfolio or personal Facebook account. When there's a violation of our Advertising Standards or other standards, you may be restricted from advertising or using Meta products. To review any account issues, you can go to facebook.com/accountquality. From here, you can also see an overview of your account status, and any issues associated with your Facebook account or business portfolios. Depending on the issue, you may also have the option to appeal the decision to restrict your account.

How to check if you're logged into the right Facebook User

Before you try to connect or reconnect Instagram on Joli, please be sure to check you're currently logged in with the right Facebook User account on both the Facebook App and facebook.com on the browser (eg. Safari/Chrome).

Please also make sure the Facebook Page that is connected to your Instagram Account is listed under the pages that you manage.

If when you go to connect Instagram on Joli you still see the wrong Facebook User then you'll need to follow the steps to reauthorise the connection between Facebook and Joli

Reauthorising the connection between Facebook and Joli

The following steps will remove any existing connection between Facebook and Joli and will allow you to create a brand new connection:

Step 1

  1. Log out of Joli if you’re already logged in.

  2. Delete the Joli App

Step 2

  1. On Facebook find Settings → Business integrations

  2. Remove the Joli business integration

Note: this will delete the Joli connection within Facebook, not your Joli account.

Step 3

  1. Redownload the Joli App

  2. Log back into Joli

  3. Connect your Instagram account again

How to reconvert your Instagram account to a Creator or Business Account

If you're still having trouble despite following all the above guides then you will need to convert your Instagram account back to a personal profile and then reconvert it to a professional account.

  1. Open the Instagram app on your mobile device and navigate to Settings.

  2. Tap Account.

  3. Tap Switch to personal account, and then tap Switch back to confirm.

  4. Your Instagram account should now be a personal profile and you can walk through the steps above to convert to a business or creator account, ensuring you link a Facebook Page to it.
