Available on the Free plan
If you already have a .csv, .xls, or .xlsx file, you can quickly upload it to Judge.me and match your data to the correct review fields, no manual formatting required. This helps you migrate reviews easily from other platforms or legacy files.
Considerations
Imported reviews won't be verified in Judge.me as they don't provide verification data that meets our standards.
Before you import
You’d need to have your review file in .csv, .xls, or .xlsx format. We recommend CSV since it’s the most reliable and avoids formatting issues that can happen with Excel files (such as hidden characters, merged cells, or formula-based values).
The file can come from any source, as long as it includes these required columns:
Review content
Review rating
Import your reviews
Step 1: Upload your review file
To upload your review file:
Scroll down to Manual reviews import.
Click Get started next to Import from a spreadsheet.
Upload your review file (.csv, .xls, or .xlsx).
Choose from the following options:
"Product reviews" to import the reviews as product reviews
"Store reviews" to import the reviews as store reviews
Check the box "I confirm my reviews are genuine and I have permission to import them".
Click Next.
Step 2: Match your columns
After uploading, you’ll see a table to map the columns in your file to Judge.me review fields.
Use the dropdowns to match the Review field to the correct columns in your file.
If you don't have any column in your file that could map with a review field, select Skipped.
Here’s what each review field means:
Review field | Required | Description | Example |
Review title | No | Short headline for the review | Perfect Fit! |
Review body | Yes | Main review content (max 5000 characters) | This shirt fits me perfectly. |
Rating | Yes | Review rating: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 | 5 |
Review date | No | Date of the review in dd/mm/yyyy format
(If empty, we'll use the current date) | 24/12/2024 |
Reviewer name | No | Name of the reviewer
(If empty, we'll use "Anonymous") | John Smith |
Reviewer email | No | Email address of the reviewer
Reply | No | Your public reply to the review | Thank you for your kind words! |
Picture URLs | No | You can add up to 5 images per review:
| |
IP address | No | The IP address of the customer. We automatically calculate the location (city, country, country code) based on this IP address | 34.203.165.149 |
Update date format
If the date format is detected correctly and you're ready to go, click Next to move to the next step.
If the date format is not detected (Must be valid date error) or if you want to change the date format (e.g. 02/09 instead of 09/02 for September 2):
Click the Update date format link next to your review date row.
Click Attributes to open the list of supported formats, or manually enter your own. Example:
YYYY-DDMM
(Y = year, D = day, M = month).Click Save.
Once the format looks correct, click Next to move to the next step.
Step 3: Select product identifier
In this step, you'll choose how you'd like to match the reviews with your products. Please make sure to include one of these identifiers in your review file:
Identifier | What it means | Example |
Product URL | Link to the product page
Product ID | The ID of the product in your store | 1234567891234 |
Product handle | The Handle of the product in your store | blue-t-shirt |
Product SKU | The unique code assigned to each product or product variant | SKU-01 |
Manual product mapping (by reference column) | Custom reference to map products manually later |
|
Use Product URL, handle or SKU
Select your preferred product identifier: Product URL, handle, or SKU.
Select the corresponding column of that identifier in your file from the dropdown menu. For example, select Product SKU and then the column that contains the SKU data from your file.
Click Import and you're all set. We’ll email you when the import is complete.
Note: If multiple products share the same SKU, we’ll match reviews to the first product found.
Use manual product mapping
Select Manual product mapping (by reference column).
Select the corresponding column of that identifier in your file from the dropdown menu.
Click Next. You'll be able to map the products in the next step.
Step 4: Map products (optional)
If you choose Product URL, handle, or SKU in the last step, your reviews should have been imported, and you don't need to perform this step.
If you choose Manual product mapping as your product identifier in the last step, you can map your product in this step.
After you import
Once you upload the review file, we process it in the background.
When the import is complete (usually within 5 minutes), you’ll receive an email with the results, sent to the address listed under your Admin notifications.
You can also view these results directly in the Reviews Import Log inside your Judge.me admin.
If your import succeeds
If your reviews are successfully imported:
To show your imported Product reviews on product pages, install the Star Rating Badge and Review Widget.
To show your imported Store reviews, set up the All Reviews Page and Floating Reviews Tab.
Since videos are not imported by default, if you have videos in your reviews, after the reviews have been imported, you can edit the reviews to upload your videos.
If your import fails
If, unfortunately, your reviews fail to import, check out this article to fix your CSV file and reimport the failed reviews.
