Colors will appear different to when printed on a white paper.

We do not print white ink as part of regular CMYK printing. Elements in your design that are white will be blank (hence show the brown paper). The paper stock will affect the way that colors appear due to the slightly translucent quality of the ink (you will see the brown paper through the ink, especially in lighter shades).

Colors in the orange, yellow, brown spectrum will tend to not be visible as the brown colour of the paper will not contrast enough with the ink. This occurs with light and pastel colors as well.

The values below are just a few sample CMYK combinations that work on Brown Kraft:

  • Red (5-15, 90-100, 75-100, 0)

  • Orange (0, 50, 100, 0)

  • Blue (63-100, 0, 0-12, 0)

  • Green (75, 5, 100, 0)

  • Rich Black (60, 40, 40, 100)

We do not recommend colors in the following range:

  • Yellow (0-20, 0-20, 100, 0-20)

  • Light Blue (0-20, 0-10, 0-10, 0-10)

  • Light Pink / Red (0-10, 0-20, 0-20, 0-10)

  • Grey (0-10, 0-10, 0-10, 0-20)

While white and light ink colors cannot be achieved on Brown Kraft with standard CMYK printing, there are other specialty services that can. This includes screen printing and foil stamping, which you can request through our Print Quote form.

As the Brown Kraft is textured it does not hold fine detail.
