Retention cohorts are measured based on the set of actions that your users take.

Initial action in Period 1

  • Frequently used: sign up

  • Possible alternative: actions that map to a core value that your product provides - ex: food ordered to a food delivery app, flights booked in travelling app

Follow-on user action in Period 2

  • Frequently used: actions that map to a core value that your product provides - ex: food ordered to a food delivery app, flights booked in travelling app

Pick an audience

If your product has a large set of free users, you may remove all the free users from your analysis.
