HOA rules are in place to maintain the community’s appearance, safety, and overall property values. If a rule is not followed, the Association may take enforcement action.

This typically includes:

  • A notice of violation

  • A request to correct the issue within a specified timeframe

  • Possible fines if the issue is not resolved

Most HOAs follow a step-by-step process and provide an opportunity to correct the issue before any penalties are applied.

If you receive a notice, the best next step is to:

  1. Review the notice carefully

  2. Correct the issue if possible

  3. Contact management if you have questions

If you feel the notice was issued in error or deserves additional review, you can request a hearing with the board under state law. The board's decision following a hearing is final.

Addressing issues early helps avoid additional enforcement or fines.
