Overview
This guide walks through how to connect the Kapoq MCP connector to ChatGPT, both for admins setting it up for their organization and individual team members connecting for the first time.
Part 1: Admin Setup
Follow these steps once as an Admin to publish the connector for your entire organization.
Step 1 – Open Settings
In the bottom-left corner of ChatGPT, open Settings.
Step 2 – Enable Developer Mode
Go to Apps → Advanced Settings.
Check the box to enable Developer Mode.
You can disable this again once setup is complete.
Step 3 – Create the App
Click the "Create app" button that appears in the top-right corner.
Fill in the following fields:
Name: Any label that helps your team identify the connector (e.g., Kapoq MCP)
MCP Server URL:
https://mcp.kapoq.com/mcp
Leave the Authentication section as-is.
Check the "I understand and want to continue" checkbox.
Optionally add a logo and/or description.
Click "Create".
Step 4 – Authorize via SSO
You'll be redirected to the Kapoq authorization page. Sign in using your company's Google-based or Microsoft-based email account (your email must be pre-authorized by the Kapoq Customer Success team).
You'll be redirected back to ChatGPT with a green success notification.
Step 5 – Publish the Connector
Click the three-dot menu next to the Disconnect button.
Select "Publish".
On the next screen, expand both "Potential risk" sections and check all checkboxes in each.
Click "Publish" to confirm.
Step 6 – Disable Developer Mode (Optional)
Return to Apps → Advanced Settings and uncheck Developer Mode — it's no longer needed.
Part 2: Individual Team Member Setup
Once an Admin has published the connector, any team member can connect using these steps.
Step 1 – Find the Connector
In a new chat window, click the "+" button, then go to "... More". You should see the Kapoq MCP connector listed there.
Can't find it? Click Apps in the left sidebar and search for "Kapoq" (or the name your Admin gave the connector). Click on it, then click "Start chat".
Note: If you were the Admin who just published the app, close your browser window and open a fresh one before looking for the connector.
Step 2 – Connect to Your Chat Session
Click on the connector. It should now appear as connected in your current chat session.
Step 3 – Authorize on First Use
The first time you use the connector, you'll be redirected to the Kapoq authorization page to sign in via SSO with your company email. Contact the Kapoq Customer Success team to ensure your email address is pre-authorized.
Step 4 – Start Prompting
In your first prompt, reference the connector by name (e.g., "Using the Kapoq MCP connector, ...") so ChatGPT knows which tool to use. You'll see a pop-up asking you to authorize ChatGPT to interact with the connector — click "Continue" on each prompt to confirm.
Tips
If multiple connectors are active in one session, always name the connector in your prompt to avoid ambiguity.
Reach out to the Kapoq Customer Success team to get new user email addresses pre-authorized before they attempt to connect.
