Overview

This guide walks through how to connect the Kapoq MCP connector to Claude, both for admins setting it up for their organization and individual team members connecting for the first time.

Note: You will need a Pro account to use MCP connectors in Claude. The free version does not support this feature. Setup is the same whether you are using Claude on the web or the desktop app.

Part 1: Admin Setup

Follow these steps once as an Admin to publish the connector for your entire organization.

Step 1 – Open Connector Settings

In Claude, select "Connect your tools to Claude".

Step 2 – Manage Connectors

Select "Manage Connectors".

Step 3 – Add a Custom Connector

  1. At the top right corner select "Add"

  2. Use the dropdown to select "Custom" and then select "Web"

Note: Selecting "Web" as the connector type does not prevent you from using it with Claude Desktop.

Step 4 – Fill In the Connector Details

  1. Enter a title for your connector (e.g., Kapoq MCP).

  2. Paste in your MCP Server URL: https://mcp.kapoq.com/mcp

  3. Leave the Advanced Settings section as-is.

  4. Click "Add".

Step 5 – Authorize via SSO

You'll be redirected to the Kapoq authorization page. Sign in using your company's Google-based or Microsoft-based email account (your email must be pre-authorized by the Kapoq Customer Success team).

Once authenticated, you'll be redirected back to Claude.

Note: In some cases, Claude may not automatically redirect you to the authorization page. If this happens, navigate to Customize → Connectors, locate your newly added connector under the "Not connected" list, click on it, and then click the Connect button as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 6 – Confirm the Connector Was Added

You should now see your custom connector listed in the Connectors library.

Step 7 – Test the Connection

  1. Go back to Claude and click the "+" button in the chat.

  2. Scroll down to Connectors.

  3. Make sure your Kapoq connector is toggled on.

  1. Ask Claude a question about your data to confirm it's working.

Tip: In your first prompt, reference the connector by name (e.g., "Using the Kapoq MCP connector, ...") so Claude knows which tool to use.

Part 2: Individual Team Member Setup

Once an Admin has added the connector, team members can enable it using these steps.

Note: Before adding the connector, you may want to close and reopen all Claude web tabs and Claude Desktop apps, then relaunch. In some cases, Claude may not automatically redirect you to the authorization page. If this happens, navigate to Customize → Connectors, locate your newly added connector under the "Not connected" list, click on it, and then click the Connect button as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 1 – Enable the Connector

  1. In Claude, click the "+" button in the chat.

  2. Select Connectors.

  3. Find the Kapoq connector and make sure it is toggled on.

Can't find it? Click "Manage Connectors".

Step 2 – Confirm in the Connectors Library

In Manage Connectors, the Kapoq connector will be listed as a custom connector.

Step 3 – Start Prompting

Once the connector is toggled on, you're ready to go. Reference the connector by name in your first prompt so Claude knows what you're referring to.

Tips

  • If multiple connectors are active in one session, always name the connector in your prompt to avoid ambiguity.

  • Re-authentication frequency varies by client type. Browser-based AI clients (such as Claude on the web) require re-authentication every hour — this is standard practice for secure web applications, since browsers are inherently less secure than desktop environments. If you use a desktop client — such as Claude Desktop, ChatGPT Desktop, or Claude Code CLI — you'll only need to re-authenticate every 90 days. For the best experience, we recommend using a desktop app over a browser-based client whenever possible.
