For security, compliance, and card network rules, transactions with certain types of merchants are blocked. Don’t worry, most people never run into these, but here’s the full list just in case:
Explosives, weapons, and firearms (e.g. MCC 0376, 2892, 3484)
Drugs and drug-related stores (e.g. MCC 5122)
Money transfers and financial institutions (e.g. MCC 4829, 6010–6012, 6050–6051, 6211, 6529–6538, 6540, 6555, 6611, 6760)
Gambling and betting (e.g. MCC 7800–7802, 7948, 7995, 9754)
Escort services, dating, massage parlors (e.g. MCC 7272–7297)
Political, religious, and government-related services (e.g. MCC 8631, 8651, 8661, 9223, 9401, 9405, 9411, 9721, 9700–9702)
Direct marketing, including inbound and outbound telemarketing (e.g. MCC 5960, 5962, 5964, 5965, 5966, 5967, 5969)
Pawn shops and debt collection agencies (e.g. MCC 5933, 7322)
Furriers, jewelry stores, stamp and coin stores, antique shops (e.g. MCC 5681, 5944, 5972, 5932, 5937)
Automated fuel dispensers (e.g. MCC 5542)
Intra-company purchases (e.g. MCC 9950)
