For security, compliance, and card network rules, transactions with certain types of merchants are blocked. Don’t worry, most people never run into these, but here’s the full list just in case:
Explosives, weapons, and firearms (e.g. MCC 2892, 3484)
Money transfers and financial institutions (e.g. MCC 4829, 6010–6051, 6530–6538)
Gambling and betting (e.g. MCC 7800–7995, 9754)
Escort services, dating, massage parlors (e.g. MCC 7272–7297)
Political, religious, and government-related services (e.g. MCC 8651, 8661, 9411)
Others like pawn shops, stamp/coin stores, or direct marketing services
