Kautio terms

Glossary: check-in states, grace window, Snooze, Dismiss, tiers, follow-up, contacts, credits, plans.

Written by Support Team

This glossary defines the words the Kautio app uses. The terms are grouped by subject and listed alphabetically within each group. Each entry gives a one-sentence definition and where the term appears in the app, and links to the chapter that explains it in full.

What do the check-in states mean?

A Kautio check-in is always in one of six states. Three are working states (Scheduled, Active, Follow-up pending) and three are end states (Complete, Cancelled, Dismissed). An end state never changes.

Scheduled

A Scheduled Kautio check-in is set up and its activity hasn't started yet. Its card shows a SCHEDULED chip. While a check-in is Scheduled, you can tap Edit check-in or Cancel check-in on it. See Changing or cancelling a check-in.

Active

A Kautio check-in becomes Active at its activity start. Its grace windows open, and its tiers are notified, while it is Active. While a check-in is Active you can tap Snooze during a grace window, and Dismiss during a window or between windows; you can no longer cancel or edit it. See When a check-in comes due.

Follow-up pending

A Kautio check-in is Follow-up pending when every tier has had its turn and its follow-up hasn't been cleared or sent yet. Its card shows a FOLLOW-UP PENDING chip. You can tap Clear follow-up to stop the follow-up text. When the follow-up is cleared or sent, the check-in becomes Complete. See Tiers and follow-up.

Complete

A Complete Kautio check-in finished without a dismiss: every tier had its turn, and any follow-up was cleared or sent. The app always says "Complete", never "Completed".

Cancelled

A Cancelled Kautio check-in ended in one of two ways: you cancelled it before its activity started, or you dismissed it before any contact was notified. A follow-up set on a check-in you dismissed still runs; only cancelling before the start stops it. See Tiers and follow-up › How follow-up works.

Dismissed

A Dismissed Kautio check-in ended because you dismissed it after at least one contact had been notified. A follow-up set on it still runs until you clear it.

The banner on an ended check-in

An ended Kautio check-in shows a banner on its details. A Cancelled or Dismissed check-in shows "Check-in cancelled." or "Check-in dismissed.", followed by "Your follow-up is still scheduled." or "No further notifications will be sent." A Complete check-in shows "Check-in complete. No further notifications will be sent."
