Do You Need a Vacuum Breaker for Your Sink?

What Is a Vacuum Breaker?

A vacuum breaker is a safety device that prevents contaminated water from flowing back into the public water supply. It’s often required by local plumbing codes for sinks in commercial settings, including salons.

Do You Need One?

  • Some municipalities require a vacuum breaker for sinks connected to the public water system.

  • Others may not require it, so be sure to check your local building codes.

  • If your sink doesn’t have one, a licensed plumber can install a vacuum breaker, even after purchase.

*Please note: A vacuum breaker kit cannot be installed on bowls that have a head spa accessory kit (X-911 or X-912) attached, as both connect at the same point on the bowl.
