To invest in Shares and ETFs using Kernel, you'll just need your own individual account. Getting set up is pretty straightforward, you simply need to:

  • Be a New Zealand resident for tax purposes.

  • Not be considered a "US person" (this typically relates to US citizenship or residency status).

  • Be 18 years of age or older.

  • Be able to complete our quick and easy online identity check.

Just a friendly heads-up: Accounts for kids, joint holders, trusts, or companies aren't able to join Shares and ETFs. Kernel's US broker partner is unable to support these account types.
