There are two aspects that constitute Scope 3.3:

  1. Well to Tank: The upstream emissions associated with the extraction, refining and transportation of fuel.

  2. Combustion: Emissions from the burning of fuel which releases gases into the atmosphere.

The KEY ESG app automatically calculates your Scope 3.3 based on the data you entered in Scopes 1 & 2.

Scope 3.3 Methodology in the KEY ESG Platform:

  • For electric vehicles, both market-based and location-based values currently use location-based rates.

  • This is due to the absence of user-provided renewable energy input.

  • Market-based Scope 3.3 emissions may be less accurate for EV-heavy users.

We will review making these numbers more accurate by adding market-based calculations in the future.
