The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR — Regulation on deforestation-free products) has been in force since 30 June 2023. Its aim is to allow only products that were produced without deforestation and legally onto the EU market.
The EUDR covers numerous raw materials and their derivatives, including:
🐄 Beef
🌴 Palm oil
🌱 Soya
☕ Coffee
🍫 Cocoa
🌲 Wood
🌳 Rubber
The raw materials and products concerned are listed in detail in Annex I of the Regulation, together with their HS codes.
✅ EUDR requirements
Companies trading in the raw materials mentioned above or products derived from them must carry out due diligence. This includes:
Geolocation of production areas
Providing the exact coordinates where the raw materials were produced.
Ensuring that no deforestation has taken place since 31 December 2020.
Legal compliance
Evidence that production complied with the applicable laws in the country of origin (e.g. land use, forestry and human rights).
Supporting documentation
All information must be summarised in a due diligence statement and provided to the authorities on request.
Retention period: at least 5 years.
Risk assessment & risk mitigation
Companies must analyse risks and take action where necessary (e.g. additional evidence, satellite data or certificates).
The product may only be placed on the market if the risk is “negligible”.
🔎 Implementation in Keyline
To implement the requirements efficiently, you can use the photo evidence feature in Keyline:
With the mobile app, you can take as many photos as you like for any production task that also involves material consumption.
You can photograph the ream, the pallet or simply a material label.
When the app recognises a QR code or barcode, it is shown separately as plain text.
The image can also contain several QR codes or barcodes — all recognised codes are read and documented individually.
The data is transmitted through a connected third-party platform, which you must register with beforehand.
As part of this registration, you must also provide some company details so that the transmission complies with the legal requirements.
You no longer need to worry about additional documentation or manual data transfers — Keyline handles this process completely and reliably in the background for you.
